St Wilfrid’s Church stands in Wilford, Nottingham, and remains an active Anglican parish church. It belongs to the Church of England and has Grade II* protection in recognition of its historic and architectural importance.
Its origins lie in the later 1300s, with Gervase de Wilford thought to have established it around 1361. The porch, main worship space and opening to the sanctuary belong to this earliest phase; the chancel and tower followed in the next century. Its masonry uses stone sourced from Gedling, Bulwell, Trowell and Castle Donington, while remnants near the nave’s eastern end may survive from an Anglo-Saxon predecessor. Medieval scratched time markers and a centuries-old, pig-shaped carving on the southern roof ridge are unusual details. Repairs included replacement roofing above the nave in 1935 and over the chancel in 1960. Inside are two commemorations of Henry Kirke White, including nineteenth-century stained glass, together with an 1878 Henry Willis organ.
