About St Paul's Church
St Paul’s Church is an active Church of England parish church serving Daybrook, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It stands along Mansfield Road, and its parish also covers the St Timothy church centre. The building holds Grade II* listed status, reflecting its architectural importance beyond the surrounding locality.
John Loughborough Pearson developed the plans from 1892 to 1896, and work commenced in May 1893 with J. W. Woodsend overseeing construction. Funded by Sir Charles Seely at a cost of £26,000, the main structure was ready by December 1895 and was dedicated to Paul the Apostle on 4 February 1896. The tower and its 46-metre spire were completed the following year. Clayton and Bell created windows showing scenes connected with Saint Paul. Eight bells, produced in 1897 by the London firm Mears and Stainbank, hang in the tower. Augustus Gern supplied the two-manual, 24-stop organ in 1896; it occupies the chancel’s north aisle and has a finely decorated oak casing.
