St Mary’s Arnold is an active Church of England parish church on Church Lane in Arnold, Nottingham. The church is recognised as a Grade II* listed building for its architectural and historic importance. Sunday worship takes place at 9:00 AM.
Its origins are thought to reach back to about 1176, although surviving written documentation begins in 1544. Sir George Gilbert Scott directed extensive restoration in 1868 and 1869, rebuilding the lower part of the tower, taking out the galleries and adding an east window. Richard Charles Sutton oversaw further work in 1877. A surviving Easter sepulchre is among the church’s notable historic features. The tower houses eight bells; the newest and largest is the tenor, cast in 2006, installed the following year and dedicated by Tony Porter, then Bishop of Sherwood.
