About St Jude's Church Hall

St Jude's Church Hall stands at 405 Woodborough Road in Mapperley, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It belongs to a Church of England parish with an evangelical tradition. The parish church remains in use for worship, while the present hall dates from the later twentieth century.

Land for the church was donated by members of the Wright banking family. William Windley placed the foundation stone on 10 April 1877, and the nave opened on 29 November that year as a daughter church of St Ann's, Nottingham. Robert Evans JP was among the architects responsible for the design. Consecration followed in November 1879. William Arthur Heazell designed the chancel, completed in 1893. Notable fittings included tiled flooring, carved oak furnishings, a Hollington stone font with alabaster supports, and Samuel Evans's stained-glass Ascension scene in the east window. A Conacher pipe organ arrived in 1898, was extended in 1933 and reconstructed in 2002. Eberlin & Partners built a replacement church hall in 1970.
