About St Catherine's
St Catherine’s is an Anglican parish church at Cossall, in Nottinghamshire and within the Nottingham area. The church continues to serve its parish and has statutory protection at Grade II*. It belongs to a combined parish alongside St Peter’s at Awsworth and St Helen’s at Trowell.
Its origins reach back to the thirteenth century, while the present structure reflects a rebuilding carried out in 1842. George Willoughby is buried here. In 1685, he established the Willoughby Almshouses beside the church, linking the site with a nearby charitable foundation of the late seventeenth century.
