About Saint Thomas
Saint Thomas is an active Church of England parish church in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It was established at the beginning of the twentieth century and remains a place of Anglican worship.
The Duke of Portland placed the foundation stone in July 1901, and Louis Ambler prepared the architectural design. Construction cost more than £5,000, including a £2,000 contribution from the duke. The Bishop of Southwell consecrated the completed church in May 1903. A Lady Chapel, designed by E Watkinson, was added during 1936 and 1937. Craftsmen and congregational helpers built it voluntarily in their spare time, before its dedication in April 1937. The organ was made by the Manchester firm Wadsworth Brothers.
