About Saint Leonard's

Saint Leonard's is an active Anglican parish church on Wollaton Road in Wollaton, Nottingham. Serving the Church of England, it has Grade II* listed status, reflecting its special architectural and historic importance.

The oldest surviving section is the chancel, which dates to at least the early 1200s, while the nave and tower were added during the following century. Restoration took place in the Victorian period and again during the twentieth century. From the 1460s, worship at the church used the Wollaton Antiphonal. The interior contains an unusually extensive collection of funerary monuments, many commemorating members of the Willoughby family, historic patrons associated with nearby Wollaton Hall. These include the chest tomb and effigies of Henry Willoughby and his wives. Robert Smythson, who designed Wollaton Hall and was among England's earliest architects, is also remembered by a monument. A Potts turret clock installed in 1892 was replaced in 1991.
