About St Nicholas
St Nicholas is a Church of England parish church on Main Street in Market Harborough, Northamptonshire. It remains in parish use and is protected as a Grade I listed building. The church forms part of a combined benefice with the parishes of Sibbertoft and Welford, while each community continues to maintain its own place of worship.
Dating mainly from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, the present structure was begun around 1250. Its plan includes a central nave flanked by aisles, a chancel and a tower at the western end. Although the Domesday survey of 1086 records the local settlement, it gives no indication that either a church or priest was present at that time. Parish registers extend back to 1561, with the older volumes held by the Northamptonshire Record Office.
