About St John the Baptist

St John the Baptist is an Anglican parish church on Main Street in East Farndon, near Market Harborough in Northamptonshire. It remains part of the Church of England and serves a parish within a combined benefice that also includes Arthingworth, Harrington and Oxendon. Each community continues to have its own church. The building is protected at Grade I.

Most of the present church dates from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, with its foundation traditionally dated to around 1250. Its plan includes a nave and chancel, accompanied by a southern aisle and a tower at the western end. The Domesday survey of 1086 records neither a church nor a priest for the parish, although this does not conclusively establish whether a church existed then. Parish registers survive from 1562, with older volumes held by the county record office.
