About St. Peter's Church

St. Peter’s Church is a Church of England chapel at Langdale End, in the North Yorkshire village of Darncombe-cum-Langdale End. It remains a chapel of ease under St Helen and All Saints’ Church at Wykeham.

Commissioned for Viscountess Downe, the church was completed in 1884 at a cost of £750. Its Gothic Revival architecture reflects forms used during the 1200s. The compact stone structure has a simple oblong plan, divided into nave and chancel, with an entrance porch facing south. A bell housing rises over the building’s western end. The burial ground also contains a prominent cross commemorating G. C. Dawnay, whose death occurred in 1889.
