About St Mary's Church, Church Houses, Farndale
St Mary's Church, Church Houses, Farndale is a Church of England place of worship in Farndale East, North Yorkshire. Situated close to the hamlet of Church Houses, the church has been protected as a Grade II listed building since 1955.
Designed by William Stonehouse, the church was completed in 1831. Temple Moore oversaw restoration work between 1907 and 1914, adding the western frontage and baptistry. Constructed from sandstone and roofed with slate, the building includes a five-bay nave, chancel, porch, vestry and baptistry. A bellcote rises above the west gable, flanked by corner turrets with pyramid-shaped caps. Internally, the nave roof uses king-post construction, while the chancel is covered by a barrel vault.
