The Octagon Chapel on Colegate, Norwich, is a Grade II* listed place of worship used by a Unitarian congregation. The community belongs to the national body representing Unitarians and Free Christians. Activities include communal lunches, a craft group, LGBTQ+ coffee meetings and engagement groups. Concerts are also held there, with performers giving their services freely so that the income can go to charitable causes.
Thomas Ivory designed the building, which opened in 1756 as a Presbyterian meeting house and later passed into Unitarian use. Its precise eight-sided form is a distinguished example of the Neo-Palladian style in England. Among those linked with the chapel are writer Harriet Martineau, translator William Taylor and members of the Martineau and Taylor families. Edward Taylor spent a period as its organist and issued music for psalms and hymns intended for use by the congregation in 1812.
