About All Saints Church
All Saints Church stands in Norwich, Norfolk. No longer serving as a parish church, it has Grade I listed protection. Its ecclesiastical role ended in 1973, after which it was cared for by Norwich Historic Churches Trust. The building later accommodated community facilities, followed by an antiques business and tearoom. Its sanctuary is still consecrated for use as a chapel, and the tower continues to host bell ringing.
The sanctuary dates from the thirteenth century, while much of the remaining structure was rebuilt around 1450. This work added the nave, northern aisle and an austere square tower at the west end. Broad arcades were formed inside, and a southern porch was added later. The east window has Victorian glass and tracery designed to resemble the Decorated Gothic style. Nineteenth-century repairs included brickwork at the tower corners, while the highest section was reconstructed in 1913. One bell, cast in 1647 by local founder John Brend II, survives.
