About St Mary's Church, Moulton
St Mary’s Church, Moulton is a former Anglican place of worship near Moulton St Mary in the Norwich area of Norfolk. Set beside a farm roughly four kilometres south of Acle, it is protected at Grade I and maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust.
Built around 1150, its circular Norman tower belongs to the twelfth century, while the nave and chancel were created in the fourteenth. The sixteenth-century southern porch is Tudor in character, and the chancel’s eastern brickwork was renewed in the 1870s. Flint and red brick form the main structure, with details in limestone. Medieval murals portray St Christopher and the Seven Acts of Mercy. Furnishings include an octagonal thirteenth-century font, seventeenth-century carved benches and an elaborately worked pulpit. A wall memorial commemorates Edmund Anguish, who died in 1616.
