The church is a medieval building dating from the fifteenth century, with 1450 given as its construction date. Work on its tower was being supported by financial bequests in 1445, indicating that this prominent part of the structure was under development around that time. An organ made by A. and S. J. Godball in 1865 was later housed in the church, adding a nineteenth-century element to the fittings of the medieval building.
