About Church of St George

The Church of St George is a Church of England parish church in Norwich, Norfolk. Also known as St George Colegate, it remains an active place of worship and is protected as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its particular historic and architectural importance.

The medieval church was developed in several stages around the turn of the sixteenth century. Its nave and tower were completed in 1459, followed by the chancel in 1498. The aisles and chapels were added in 1505 and 1513. A notable feature is the organ made by George Pike England in 1802. In recognition of its heritage significance, the British Institute of Organ Studies has granted the instrument an Historic Organ Certificate.
