About Church of St Mary, Old Hunstanton
The Church of St Mary, Old Hunstanton serves as the Church of England parish church for Old Hunstanton in Norfolk. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it remains a place of parish worship and is protected as a Grade I listed building.
Dating from around 1350, the church replaced a Norman predecessor, from which the font survives. Its Perpendicular Gothic structure is built of flint, with aisles on both sides and a tower at the north-west corner. Frederick Preedy restored the building in 1860 for Henry Le Strange, and much of the stained glass belongs to this period. Notable fittings include a 16th-century chancel screen, a tenor bell cast in Norwich by John Stephens in 1726, and a 1936 organ made by J. W. Walker & Sons, housed in a case designed by Sir Walter Tapper.
