St Peter & St Paul’s Church is a Church of England parish church on Church Street in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. It remains a place for worship and community gatherings, and its tower is a notable local landmark. The church is protected as a Grade I listed building, a designation awarded in 1966.
Christian use of the site can be traced to the seventh century, while the existing church originated around the eleventh century, with 1050 given as its building date. An unusual object kept at the church is the Gad Whip, once used during a Palm Sunday ceremony connected with the tenancy of land at Broughton. Displayed in a glass case, it includes a long whip and lash, a purse retaining a single penny from Edward I’s reign, and three surviving pieces of wych elm. The annual custom continued until 1846.
