About All Hallows Church
All Hallows Church is a former Anglican place of worship at Clixby, near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. Now redundant and cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, it is listed at Grade II* in recognition of its architectural and historic importance. It stands north of the A1084, between Caistor and Brigg.
The church originated in the 13th century and was enlarged and altered in the 14th. After later decline, only the chancel remained by 1871. Hodgson Fowler restored it in 1889, adding the western porch around a medieval pointed doorway with dogtooth ornament. Ironstone and limestone walls support a slate roof, while a small bellcote rises above the east end. Inside are a medieval sedilia and piscina, Minton floor tiles, a 15th-century carved font, and a memorial slab for a 14th-century priest. The churchyard contains a restored medieval cross base.
