About St John's

St John’s is a Church of England church on Grantham Road in Bracebridge Heath, south of Lincoln. It stands near the village’s Methodist church and St John’s Academy, formerly Bracebridge Heath County Primary School. The village occupies Lincoln Cliff, overlooking Lincoln and the Witham valley, and lies close to the meeting point of the A15 and A607.

The church formerly had a hall behind it which served as the village hall until a new facility was built during the 1970s. In the early 1980s, the former church hall became the headquarters of the 21st Lincoln Scout group; a local benefactor later bought the building and gave it to the group. The church is distinct from the chapel of the former mental hospital, which has since been converted into private accommodation.
