About Church of St Helen, Boultham
The Church of St Helen, Boultham is a Church of England place of worship in Boultham Park, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Now active after previously falling out of use, it forms a joint congregation with the nearby Holy Cross Church, where regular services take place. St Helen’s accommodates around 60 people and hosts smaller weddings and special occasions. It has held Grade II* status since October 1953.
Dating from the 13th century, the church is among Lincoln’s oldest and was returned to worship through restoration by C. Hodgson Fowler. Its furnishings include an inscribed 18th-century font with a square baluster form, alongside an oak pulpit, choir stalls and iron altar rail from the 19th century. Memorials commemorate the Ellison family of Boultham Hall, while a brass tablet dating to 1919 records war losses. The churchyard contains a granite Crimean War memorial associated with Sevastopol.
