About St Michael's

St Michael’s is a Church of England parish church on Church Road in Weeton, Preston, Lancashire. It remains in active use and belongs to the Diocese of Blackburn. The building has held Grade II listed status since 1986.

Built in 1843 on a site provided by the 13th Earl of Derby, the church acquired parish status three years later. Edwin Hugh Shellard extended its western end in 1852. Designed in the Early English manner, it is built from red brick, complemented by stone details and a slate covering. Its nave and chancel are joined by a north porch and a vestry beside the chancel, while a small spire rises from the western bellcote. Inside are original enclosed wooden pews, a timber pulpit with a coordinating minister’s desk, and an organ made by T. and C. Lane. A brass memorial commemorates Edward Stanley, the 15th Earl of Derby.
