About Christ Church, Fulwood
Christ Church, Fulwood stands on Victoria Road in the Fulwood area of Preston, Lancashire. It serves a Church of England parish and continues to function as a place of worship. Administratively, it forms part of Preston deanery, under Lancaster archdeaconry and the Diocese of Blackburn.
Myres and Veevers designed the church, which dates from 1854–55. Stone is the principal material, with varied colours incorporated into some decorative details. The plan is aisleless, and a hammerbeam structure spans the interior. At the northern end, a steeple emerges above a porch: its lower stage is four-sided, changing to an eight-sided shape higher up. In 1937, the Lancaster architects Austin and Paley enlarged the building with a remembrance chapel.
