All Saints Church stands on Church Street in Whitstable, Kent. This Grade II* listed Church of England building forms part of the Whitstable Team Ministry, which comprises five Anglican churches.
Christian worship has taken place on the site for at least eight centuries. A church with a nave and chancel was replaced in the early thirteenth century by an Early English Gothic building of similar plan, with a tower added later. The north aisle dates from the fifteenth century. Structural problems led to extensive reconstruction during the 1870s, including an enlarged chancel and a new vestry. A south aisle and western porch completed the design in 1962, while earlier stained glass was retained. Notable memorials include a medieval priest’s grave slab marked by the outline of a chalice, and a brass commemorating Thomas Brede, who died in 1444. The churchyard contains Wynn Ellis’s Grade II listed tomb, designed by Charles Barry Junior and built in 1875.
