St Nicholas Church is an active Church of England parish church on Church Lane in New Romney, Kent, within the Diocese of Canterbury. Dating from the medieval period, it is protected as a Grade I listed building. It is the sole survivor of the five parish churches that served the town before 1547 and now forms part of the Romney Marsh Benefice.
Although the site was founded in 1086, the oldest surviving fabric is 12th-century. The nave and clerestory were built in Caen stone by Norman craftsmen, while the tower’s upper levels, octagonal parapet and corner turrets were added around 1200. During the 14th century, the chancel, adjoining chapels and eastern nave bay were constructed, and the aisles heightened. Notable details include Norman arches, an east window with patterned tracery and Victorian glass commemorating the Stringer family. The south aisle contains the tomb of Richard Stuppeny, a town jurat who died in 1526.
