About Church of St Margaret

The Church of St Margaret is a Church of England parish church in Hunton, Kent, associated with the village of Collier Street. Situated close to Green Lane’s junction with the B2162, the church remains a place of parish worship and has Grade II listed status.

It was constructed in 1848 as a subsidiary place of worship within the parish of Yalding. In 1858, Collier Street gained separate parish status, with its own benefice continuing until 1969. It was then combined with Yalding and Laddingford in a united benefice. The architecture draws on forms characteristic of the thirteenth century. Ragstone walls surround the churchyard, which was later formally closed through an Order in Council.
