About St Edmund's Church
St Edmund’s Church is a Church of England church in Forest Gate, within the London Borough of Newham in east London. Its tradition is Anglo-Catholic, and its dedication commemorates Edmund the Martyr. Today, the church belongs to the East Ham Team Parish, which is also called the Parish of the Holy Trinity. The same team includes the churches of St Mary Magdalene, St Bartholomew and St Alban.
The church began in 1895 as a mission serving Red Post Lane, then within the parish of All Saints. In 1901, it gained independent parish status. The present permanent church building was finished in 1932, replacing the earlier arrangements used by the mission and developing parish.
