St. Augustine’s is an active Anglican parish church on Kilburn Park Road in north London, near Kilburn and Maida Vale. The building is protected at Grade I. Services take place on Sundays at 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, with a Saturday service at 11.00 am.
Richard Carr Kirkpatrick established the congregation in 1870 with an Anglo-Catholic identity. An early temporary structure made of iron gave way to a substantial Gothic Revival design by John Loughborough Pearson. Constructed in red brick, the church has stone sculpture, vaulted spaces and architectural details influenced by medieval Gothic work. It was consecrated in 1880, although its tower and spire were completed in 1897–98. Rising to more than 77 metres, the spire is a prominent feature. Inside are windows made by Clayton and Bell, including scenes of Creation, angels and English saints, alongside carved biblical imagery and altar decoration designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.
