About St Alban's, Cheam
St Alban’s, Cheam is an active Anglican place of worship in Cheam, within Greater London’s Borough of Sutton. It belongs to the Church of England and shares the wider Cheam parish with two other churches. Sunday worship is held at 10.30 am, while a Eucharist takes place each Wednesday at 10 am. Monthly Evensong is offered at 6 pm on the first Sunday.
Established in 1930, the church took inspiration from a barn-style church erected at North Sheen, an area later absorbed into Kew. The Cheam building incorporates reused fabric from Cheam Court Farm, including elements of its farmhouse, agricultural barns and ancillary structures. Those farm buildings might have been associated with Nonsuch Palace during the reign of Henry VIII. Edward Swan, an architect involved with the North Sheen model, also helped design this church.
