About Church of St Michael and All Angels
The Church of St Michael and All Angels serves as an active Anglican parish church in Wood Green, Greater London. It is situated beside Bounds Green Road in Haringey and is protected at Grade II for its special architectural and historical significance.
The earliest structure was created by George Gilbert Scott in partnership with William Bonython Moffatt. Consecrated in 1844, it initially provided an additional place of worship for the local parish. Ground movement forced the building to shut for a time during the following decade. A substantial programme of enlargement and alteration then took place from 1865 until 1874. Henry Curzon designed the nave that formed the first phase of this work. The chancel followed in 1871, and the final additions, completed in 1874, were a tower crowned by a spire.
