About Church of St Barnabas

The Church of St Barnabas is a Church of England church on Pitshanger Lane in Ealing, Greater London. It serves the local parish and has been protected as a Grade II listed building since 1997.

Brentham Garden Suburb was originally planned without a place of worship. Land was therefore bought in December 1905, and a temporary structure made of corrugated iron was erected. Ernest Charles Shearman designed the permanent church, which was constructed from 1914 to 1916. James Clark later painted a fresco in the apse at the east end, completing the work between 1917 and 1920. An organ dating from the 1920s remained until 2011, when it was replaced with an instrument transferred from St Jude’s in Southsea.
