About All Saints

All Saints is an Anglican parish church on Clydesdale Road in Notting Hill, London. It is connected with Forward in Faith and follows the Anglo-Catholic tradition. The building holds Grade II* heritage status, while remaining a place of worship, with a Sunday service at 11.00 am.

Work began in 1852 at the initiative of the Reverend Dr Samuel Walker, who intended the church to form a focal point for his Kensington Park development. William White designed it in a colourful Victorian Gothic manner, with Sir George Gilbert Scott also contributing. Financial problems interrupted construction, but the church opened in completed form in 1861 after expenditure of £25,000, although the intended spire was omitted. Its tower rises to 100 feet and has been compared with the historic bell tower at Bruges. Wartime bombing destroyed the Lady Chapel and southern transept chapel; repairs concluded in 1951. Paintings by Henry Holiday decorate the chancel.
