About St Margaret of Antioch, Edgware
St Margaret of Antioch, Edgware is an active Church of England parish church in Edgware, Greater London. It stands where Station Road meets Watling Street and has held Grade II listed status since 1950.
The church is recorded as early as the thirteenth century, when it was associated with use by the Knights Hospitaller. Its tower survives from the sixteenth century, while the rest of the building is chiefly constructed in red brick. Much of the church was rebuilt in 1764, with a further substantial rebuilding undertaken in 1845. It also had longstanding links with the 2nd Edgware Scouts, founded in 1929. The group was formerly named St Margaret’s, and its relationship with the church continued after formal sponsorship ended in 1971.
