About St Paul's Church, Hadley Wood
St Paul’s Church, Hadley Wood is an Anglican proprietary chapel in the London Borough of Barnet, Greater London. Sunday worship takes place every week. Its outlook is conservative evangelical, and the parish affirms distinct but complementary responsibilities for women and men. It has formally opposed the admission of women to ordained ministry and receives alternative episcopal supervision through the Bishop of Ebbsfleet.
Opened in 1911, the church began as a daughter congregation of Christ Church, Cockfosters, before gaining independence in 2000. Albert Kingwell, an agent representing Charles Jack, obtained a one-acre site from the Duchy of Lancaster and drew up the design. The land agreement required the new place of worship to be completed within three years. First called the Church Room, the building was renamed St Paul’s in 1936. Kingwell also gave a stained-glass window.
