About St Patrick's Church
St Patrick's Church is a Church of England parish church in the Eastbury area of Barking, Greater London. Standing on Blake Avenue, it is protected as a Grade II listed building. The church now serves as an independent parish, having previously belonged to a shared team parish with St Margaret’s and Christ Church.
The congregation began in 1924 in a temporary building known as the Church of the Ascension. A separate parish was created from part of St Margaret’s parish in 1939. The present church, designed by A. E. Wiseman in the Moderne style and built in brown brick, replaced the temporary structure, which became a parish hall in 1940. Christ Church joined the parish as a chapel of ease in 1959. The three churches later formed one team parish, an arrangement that ended at the start of 2017.
