About St Laurence's Church, Guestling
St Laurence’s Church, Guestling is a Church of England parish church in the village of Guestling, near Hastings in East Sussex. It stands within the Rother district and has protected status. Its Norman tower is designated Grade I, recognising the architectural and historic importance of this part of the building.
Christian worship at the site dates back to the Saxon period. The present structure incorporates the Norman tower alongside a nave and chancel first built during the 13th century, around 1250. Although these medieval sections formed the basis of the church, much of the nave and chancel was reconstructed in a substantial programme of work carried out from 1884 to 1891. The tower remains the principal surviving element from the earlier Norman building.
