About St Paul’s Church

St Paul’s Church is an active Church of Scotland parish church in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, near Glasgow. Sunday morning worship and a monthly evening service are streamed online, while its halls accommodate community, social and outreach activities. The Category C listed building stands where Glasgow Road meets Baldernock Road.

The congregation traces its origins to a group that separated from New Kilpatrick Parish Church in 1787 and formed Kilpatrick Relief Church the following year. After earlier premises became inadequate, Leadbetter & Fairley of Edinburgh won a competition to design the present church. Its memorial stone was laid in 1905, and the building opened in January 1906. The sanctuary is constructed from rough red sandstone, with windows influenced by late Gothic design. Each side of the transept has an unusual pair of gables. A proposed bell tower was left unfinished, with only its lower section built. Later additions provided halls and offices.
