About All Saints' Church
All Saints' Church is a Church of England place of worship on Swan Lane in Swindon, Wiltshire. Dating from about 1250, it is protected as a Grade II* listed building.
The church originally stood roughly half a mile north of its present position. After its condition deteriorated and winter access became difficult, the nave, porch and tower were dismantled and reconstructed on Swan Lane in 1896, with the masonry and timber individually labelled before removal. The surviving medieval fabric includes thirteenth-century nave walls, a late fourteenth-century porch and windows from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, one retaining a piece of early glass. The timber roof contains Gothic quatrefoil openings alongside carved Jacobean heads and figures. Other features include an eighteenth-century pulpit, historic pews, a restored font, Elizabethan communion silver and three bells, the earliest probably cast around 1450.
