St Peter’s Church, Selsey is an active Church of England parish church on Chichester Road in Chichester, West Sussex. It is protected as a Grade II listed building and has undergone substantial renovation both externally and internally.
The church was established in the medieval period, replacing an earlier cathedral associated with St Wilfrid’s monastery at Church Norton. As Selsey’s population shifted, the building was carefully taken apart and reconstructed at its present site between 1864 and 1866. Its medieval nave and aisles include two three-bay arcades originating in the late 12th century, while a Victorian chancel and vestry were added under architect James Piers St Aubyn. The earlier chancel remained at Church Norton and later became St Wilfrid’s Chapel. Notable surviving features include an ancient font and an Elizabethan chalice.
