About St Andrew
St Andrew is an active Anglican parish church serving Birchills and the area around Reedswood Park in Walsall, West Midlands. Located on Birchills Street, it belongs to the Church of England and is protected as a Grade II listed building. The parish has a Modern Catholic identity. It does not recognise the ordination of women and therefore comes under the alternative episcopal care of the Bishop of Ebbsfleet.
J. E. K. Cutts designed the church, which was erected over the period from 1884 until 1887. Its principal spaces include an aisled nave and chancel, alongside a room for the organ and a small turret. The parish gained formal legal status in 1889, and its benefice was then established as a vicarage with an annual gross value of £200.
