About All Saints Church, Ellough
All Saints Church, Ellough is a redundant Anglican church on the Sotterly Estate in Suffolk. Set on a low hill about four kilometres south-east of Beccles, it is a Grade I listed building cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust. Its former parish was united with Weston during the 1970s, after which regular worship largely ceased, although occasional services continued.
Built around 1350, the church is mainly formed from flint rubble with stone detailing. Its medieval layout includes a short nave and chancel, together with an unbuttressed western tower featuring Y-traceried openings. William Butterfield oversaw restoration work in 1882, replacing the eastern window and designing the reredos and chancel roof. Older survivals include a 14th-century piscina and sedilia, steps once serving the rood loft, and a 15th-century octagonal font decorated with floral and heraldic carvings. Memorials include sanctuary brasses and an 18th-century ledger stone.
