About All Saints Church, Lawshall
All Saints Church, Lawshall is a Church of England parish church in the Suffolk village of Lawshall. Standing near Lawshall Hall and the village primary school, it remains a place of Anglican worship. Its Grade I designation recognises its considerable architectural, historic and local importance.
A church was recorded at Lawshall in 1086, while parts of the present chancel may date from the late 12th or 13th century. Much of the flint building was reconstructed during the 1440s, supported by wealth from the cloth trade. It has a four-stage western tower, battlements, diagonal supports, a nave and aisles. William Butterfield directed a substantial Victorian restoration, including the rebuilt chancel and new windows, while the south porch was renewed in 1856–57 using some medieval roof timbers. Notable features include a richly decorated 15th-century font, a carved chest from the 16th century, five bells and an organ installed by Wordsworth & Co in 1907.
