About Church of St Andrew
The Church of St Andrew is a Church of England parish church in Bedingham, Suffolk. It forms part of the Hempnall group of parishes in the Diocese of Norwich and is protected as a Grade I listed building.
Built from flint with limestone details, the church is largely medieval. The base of its round tower is late Saxon or early Norman, while the octagonal bell stage, tracery and battlemented parapet were added during the 15th century. Most of the remaining structure dates from the 13th and 14th centuries. Inside are medieval arcades, a clerestory that brings light into the nave and chancel, a 15th-century rood screen, carved bench ends and an octagonal font decorated with lions and evangelist symbols. Monuments commemorate the Stone family. Five bells survive, including one from about 1520, but the weakened medieval oak frame prevents them from being rung.
