About St David's Church
St David’s Church is a Church of Scotland place of worship at Stormontfield, near Perth in Perth and Kinross. Dating from the late nineteenth century, the church is now protected as a Category B listed building.
Completed in 1897, the church was designed by architect Alexander Marshall Mackenzie and dedicated on 30 July that year. His commission called for an Early English style building with seating for 100 people and a projected budget of £550. Although the plans included a bellcote, this element was omitted when the church was built. Beside the entrance is a lead sundial given by R. W. R. Mackenzie, decorated with gilding and Scottish thistles. Stolen in January 1985, it was later recovered from railway land in Perth’s Craigie district. Yew trees now form an arch over the approach to the main door, where a timber footbridge once crossed Colen Burn.
