About Kinnoull Parish Church
Kinnoull Parish Church is an active Church of Scotland parish church in Perth, Perth and Kinross. Situated on Gowrie Street near the River Tay, it is protected as a Category B listed building. Sunday services take place weekly and can also be watched online.
Records refer to a church at Kinnoull in 1361, when it was given to Cambuskenneth Abbey. The present building was completed in 1827 to plans by William Burn, replacing a church rebuilt in 1779 and demolished in 1826. Its west window, added in 1870, has fourteen painted panels illustrating Christ’s parables, based on woodcuts by John Everett Millais and set among floral designs. Further stained glass includes the Strachan window over the east entrance. A pipe organ by the Hope-Jones Organ Company was installed in 1896, with cases designed by Perth architect David Smart. The interior was altered in 1929–30, when the organ was extensively reconstructed. A digital instrument replaced it in 2008.
