About Lundie Parish Church
Lundie Parish Church is a former Church of Scotland parish church in Perth, Perth and Kinross. Dedicated to Saint Lawrence, it hosted regular services until June 2017 and was later sold for conversion to a home. A major fire in November 2022 destroyed the roof, leaving the Category A listed church as a shell.
Founded in the 12th century, the church was built in the Romanesque manner using roughly squared stone, with rubble masonry on the western gable. It once belonged to St Andrews Priory and may have provided shelter for monks travelling towards Coupar Angus. A Duncan family burial chamber was added at the eastern end in 1789, then adapted as a vestry during extensive work in 1892, when a porch was also constructed. Earlier rebuilding took place in 1846. Notable details include pointed windows, a narrow opening traditionally called the leper window, a single bell in an open-frame bellcote, memorial glass and a stone font.
