About St Andrew's Church

St Andrew's Church is a former Church of England place of worship in the secluded hamlet of Bayvil, about two kilometres north-east of Nevern in Pembrokeshire. Now redundant, the church is maintained by a conservation charity under a long lease dating from 1983. It is listed at Grade II*, recognising its unusually intact character as a rural Anglican church of its period.

The present structure is believed to be an early nineteenth-century replacement for a medieval church. Local architect David Evans of Eglwyswrw designed the rebuild. Constructed from rubble stone, it has a slate-covered roof, a blue lias bellcote and a simple rectangular plan containing one chamber. Gothic sash windows were later reinstated, while the west wall was re-rendered to address damp. Inside are slate floors, enclosed pews, a painted three-level pulpit with a sounding board, plain altar rails and a square font dating from the twelfth century.
