About All Hallows Church
All Hallows Church is an active Church of England parish church on Market Square in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. It holds Grade I listed status, granted in September 1950.
Dating from 1160, the church had its dedication to All Hallows documented in 1517. Work on the present tower started around 1280 and continued for approximately two decades. Notable features include a collection of twentieth-century stained glass. Evie Hone created a south aisle window in 1955 using Old Testament imagery, while Jean Barillet’s 1962 window depicts themes connected with St Crispin and St Crispinian, patrons of shoemakers. Three further windows were designed by John Piper and made by Patrick Reyntiens between 1961 and 1969, including representations of evangelists and prophets, a rose window beneath the western tower, and an abstract work entitled ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’.
