About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is a Church of England place of worship in Settrington, North Yorkshire. It forms part of West Buckrose parish and benefice in the Diocese of York and is listed at Grade II*. Formerly dedicated to St Michael, it had adopted its present dedication by 1835 and has also been called All Hallows.
The building is chiefly thirteenth-century, with some surviving Norman work, notably the south entrance. Perpendicular Gothic elements include the square western tower, constructed from grey stone in three levels and finished with battlements. The font also belongs to the thirteenth century, while the eastern window incorporates medieval glazing from the fourteenth or fifteenth century. Work was undertaken in 1817 and 1823. During 1867–68, John Loughborough Pearson reconstructed the chancel at its earlier extent and fitted a roof laid in a herringbone design. A clock produced by Leeds firm W. Potts & Sons was added in 1903 in memory of Lady Julia Middleton.
