United Reformed Church stands on High Street in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. This historic place of worship is protected at Grade II, while its former Sunday school, now serving as the church hall, has its own separate Grade II designation.
The congregation developed through early nineteenth-century Congregationalist preaching. After deacon Mr Trousdale settled in Northallerton, he gathered worshippers and secured money for a purpose-built church, which opened on 1 January 1819. A Sunday school was erected behind it in 1852, and vestries were added during the early or middle decades of the twentieth century. The two-storey, three-bay church is constructed in brown brick, with a tiled hipped roof and a central projecting porch. Its entrance and sash windows have rounded arches. The single-storey hall is also brick-built, but roofed in Welsh slate, and includes a dated sandstone inscription panel.
